Family Health History Resources:

It is now known that our family health history is perhaps the best genetic screening tool for reducing risk of developing common health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Knowing information about our family health history is very useful. We have prepared this resource page to assist you in the process of learning more about family health history.

The following Web sites provide additional information on family history.

A slide presentation, entitled The Family Health History, was developed by the New England Public Health Genetics Education Collaborative, with the intention that professionals would use these slides for in-services, grand rounds and in various lecture settings for the education of medical care providers regarding family health history. The presentation may be used in its entirety or condensed. Development of this presentation was supported in part by a grant from the Genetics Services Branch of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MHCB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the NEW ENGLAND REGIONAL GENETICS AND NEWBORN SCREENING COLLABORATIVE, HRSA GRANT #1U22MC03959.
