A. Merrill Henderson Consumer Scholarship Fund

In 2009, NERGG awarded one A. Merrill Henderson Consumer Scholarship Award.The AMH Award provides modest financial support to families in New England who have genetic conditions and wish to attend conferences or meetings around the country.

This year, our award recipient's family attended the IDEAS 2009 International Conference in Indianapolis, IN. This meeting is for families affected with dup 15q syndrome. They requested support from various organizations so that this trip could be possible for their family.

Their post conference summary was short and to the point telling us, “We attended lectures and workshops on genetics, nutrition, sensory integration autism, affects on siblings, behavioral issues, communication, marriage issues and much more. The information we received is insurmountable. Please know how crucial this information is to parents of a special needs child whose world is so complicated and challenging.”
