As many of you know, NERGG underwent committee restructuring in 2003, creating a smaller number of larger, broader committees. At this time, NERGG has three standing committees, they are:
• Business and Development
• Clinical Care and Resources/ Screening and Diagnosis
• Societal Concerns / Education
The NERGG board of directors has come up with several projects for each of the above committees. These projects are briefly described below. If you would like to become involved with one of these projects, please email Mary-Frances in the NERGG office. Each committee has a budget for conference calling, face-to-face meetings, materials, whatever is needed. The NERGG office supports all activities of the committees.
Business and Development:
Chairpersons: Mary Castro Summers and Merrill Henderson
The charge to the Business and Development Committee is to investigate options for financial security for the organization and to help carry out the strategic planning initiatives set forth at the Strategic Planning Retreat in April 2007. There was also a request to see if we could bring a financial planner to a Board meeting to talk about the challenge of developing an organizational plan.
Clinical Care and Resources/Screening and Diagnosis:
Chairpersons: Jodi Hoffman and Deborah Marsden
1. To look at the disparity amongst different centers in the region regarding what types of screening is offered to patients in the prenatal setting.
2. To create a regional searchable website so that providers and families can search thier geographical area for genetics professionals with specific disease expertise.
Societal Concerns / Education:
Chairpersons: Carrie Gill and Elizabeth Taylor
The charge to this committee is to review the NERGG position statements from the 1990s and the Educational Materials to determine if they are still current and should be posted on the newly updated NERGG website.
These are the projects that have been proposed by the NERGG Board at this time. By all means, this is not a finite list; other projects may be suggested. Thank you for your attention and I look forward to hearing back from you.
