Connecticut Ongoing Projects

  • Newborn Screening in Connecticut WEB-BASED Training for Pediatrician, Family Practitioners, Advanced Practice Nurses, Physicians, other health professional and others. This is available on line until January 2010. Free Continuing Education Credits are offered. To register, go to: www.genetrain.org .
  • Participation in the New England Public Health Genetics Education Collaborative. This multidisciplinary forum provides networking to identify gaps and barriers to genetic education, care and services and development of materials and programs to address such. The aim of the collaborative group is health promotion and disease prevention through public health genomics. Many educational materials and tools have been developed and are being implemented to promote optimal health of children and families.
  • Participation with the New England Newborn Screening Program (NENSP) to assess the gaps and barriers to accessing special health care needs and services for identified positive newborn screening results. This includes but is not limited to: further confirmation testing, treatment, and follow up services for newborns but also the transition of young adults to adult primary and specialty services across the lifespan.
Participation with the New England Regional Newborn Screening and Genetics Collaborative (NERC) on regional projects striving to improve health outcomes of those identified with inherited disorder.
