We are seeking a full time Genetic Counselor to join the Genetics Division at Children's Hospital Boston (Harvard Medical School). This position is within an active and expanding Genetics Program that provides diagnostic, therapeutic and counseling services and research activities.

Working with clinical geneticists, the successful candidate will obtain medical and family histories, review records and literature and computer data bases as part of diagnostic evaluations in general genetics outpatient sessions. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for documentation of these visits, including assessments and plans, along with follow up on all testing ordered. The candidate will also be involved in division Quality Improvement Initiatives, which may include a coordinating role for some projects. An additional component of the position will be working with Dr. Mira Irons, Clinical Chief, to recruit patients with genetic forms of autism for a clinical research study. Responsibilities will include identification, consenting, and enrollment of appropriate patients, assistance with obtaining the required patient specimens, coordinating phenotyping appointments, and collection and management of phenotypic, laboratory and family history data, as well as maintaining all necessary IRB and regulatory paperwork.

Active Candidate Status or Board Certification by the ABGC is required, as is provisional or full licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Genetic Counselors. Candidate must also have strong organizational and communication skills and a minimum of two year’s post grad experience.
