Rhode Island Ongoing Projects
- Monitoring parental awareness of newborn screening programs through the Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring Survey (PRAMS).
- Participation in the New England Public Health Genetics Education Collaborative. The overall objective of the collaborative is to develop a cohesive collaboration of public health genetics professionals, with a common mission of health promotion and disease prevention through public health genomics. Current projects include development of a regional genetics resource directory, translation of newborn screening brochures into multiple languages, and increasing awareness of family health history.
- Working with the New England Newborn Screening Program (NENSP) to assess the needs of people accessing specialized health care services following newborn screening and to develop a sustainable systematic public health approach to long-term follow-up for newborn screening.
- Working with the New England Regional Newborn Screening and Genetics Collaborative (NERC) on regional grant-related projects aimed at improving health and well-being of those with inherited conditions.
