In 2000, NERGG, Inc. established a lifetime membership category, with the expectation that these dues, generously donated from members of the organization, would be set aside from the general operating funds for special projects. Our goal is to continue this tradition; however with limited funding for the organization, it is possible that in the future some of the lifetime funds may be needed for general operations.
NERGG is now accepting small project proposals requesting funding up to $500 for projects that are consistent with the mission or strategic initiatives of the organization.
NERGG's Mission
To provide a forum for collaboration among genetic professionals, consumers of genetic services and the Public Health Community in New England by:
A project that would improve genetic services, education, resources or access to care would be considered applicable. Also, projects that foster networking between organizations that provide genetics services or resources are encouraged.
A two-page project narrative, single-spaced, detailing background information on the project, the project goal, how the proposal meets this fund’s objectives, plans for implementing the project (including securing additional funds if they are needed) and the proposed project period, with start and end dates, will be required. If money is being used to support a piece of a larger project or the initiation of a longer term effort, one must include information and/or letters of support from the connected organizations to define how the project will integrate with other projects or be sustained. In addition, applicants should submit a list of participants with CVs, a budget and a budget justification, to the NERGG office for review by committee members. A plan for project reporting will be arranged with the awardees at the time the money is granted. It is recommended that projects will be completed within one year from award/funding. All are encouraged to apply; priority will be given to NERGG members.
There will be two deadlines for project applications each year, March 15th and September 15th. Applicants will be notified by April 15th and October 15th respectively.
NERGG, Inc should be credited as a financial supporter, having made the project possible, on any materials produced with these funds and NERGG, Inc. would be given access to any materials generated to post on the organization’s website. In addition, a final report will be submitted to NERGG, Inc. within sixty days of the project’s completion.
